For the second time this season Ecaterina (Kate) Arabadji is the College of the Rockies Avalanche athlete of the week. Kate had a phenomenal weekend at home against the 6th ranked team in the country the Camosun Chargers. On Friday Kate not only led the team in digs with 15 on the night, but her attacking was impressively efficient with a 45% kill efficiency. She chalked up 15 kills on 31 attempts with only 1 error, and added a service ace in the 4 set win.
Saturday afternoon was more of the same from the Moldovian outside hitter. Arabadji was highly effective in attacking again scoring 12 points with a 37% kill efficiency. Her main contribution on Saturday was in the stability she provided to the Avalanche serve receive. Camosun gave the Avalanche a lot of pressure from the service line, and Kate did an incredible job controlling the ball during the game. She had a team high 23 digs in the four set victory.
Coach Fraser had this to say about Kate’s performance: “This was the most well rounded performance we’ve seen from Kate this season. Not only was she aggressive and confident in her attacking, but she was very calm and collected during the big moments and points this weekend. Her ball control and court presence really helps to stabilize our team and I’m sure she will be even better for the second half of the season”.
